World Peace

I am so sad for the world.

I am so tired of seeing shootings, bombings and stabbings.

I know I already talked about the tragedy in Paris, but it just seems to be getting worse everywhere you look.

On Monday morning, I received an email from SIUE saying that there was a bomb threat found on campus.

A BOMB THREAT.

I have always felt safe living in a small town in Illinois and I had never felt the need to take extreme precaution of my surroundings in Edwardsville.

Guess I was wrong.

As I get older, I am learning more and more that I can not be as gullible and trusting as I used to be in people and the world.

It’s sad, really.

I hope one day very soon the world will not be filled with hateful people and there will be peace on Earth.

Here’s to a a better future and a better tomorrow.

FINALS

It’s that time of year once more.

Finals.

I am not the best when it comes to handling stress, therefore, this time of the semester I always have a mental breakdown.

This year, I have taken on a position on Dance Marathon at SIUE, 6 classes, and a job.

My stress is at a all time high.

Not to mention I am a full-time daughter, sister, girlfriend, and friend.

I can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I keep telling myself that after these next two weeks, I will be stress free for an entire month.

A WHOLE MONTH.

In these last two weeks of fall semester, I am going to try and stay as calm and as stress-free as possible.

As I graduate and find a big girl job, I hope that I am able to deal with stress and become a better person because of it.

May the force be with you, fellow students.

Peace for Paris? How about peace for the world

On Nov. 13, Friday the 13th, there were several terrorist attacks on Paris, France.

I personally have a very close friend who is living in London, England and I can not imagine what it must be like in the U.N.

Not only does this tragic incident affect those in Paris, but also people all over the world.

I can admit that I do not know much about ISIS, but I know enough to be concerned for all mankind.

I also think it doesn’t help when there are a million different Facebook posts creating more controversy.

What is true and what is fake?

It really saddens me to think that I will never live at a time where there is complete peace in the world.

I pray for all of those lives who were affected by these acts of terrorism and I pray for the world that one day we all will live peacefully.

Thanksgiving or Christmas in November?

‘Tis the season for sweaters, boots and food.

I absolutely HATE winter, but I love the holiday season.

Like some people, I get a little frustrated when people start celebrating Christmas before Thanksgiving has even begun.

Why would anyone want to skip over a Thanksgiving meal!?

At my household, my mother puts up our Christmas tree the week before Thanksgiving. Yes, a WEEK before.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my mother and I especially love Christmas.

But a week before Thanksgiving?!

I think people have become to wrapped up in Christmas and buying the perfect gifts (pun intended), that we overlook a very important holiday.

Don’t even get me started on Black Friday…..

LAST week at Francesca’s we have begun playing Christmas music. It’s the first week of November, people. Calm down.

I guess my rant is just to tell my readers to not overlook Thanksgiving because it comes and goes so quickly it doesn’t even feel like it happens sometimes.

‘Tis the season for being surrounded by family and loved ones.

Happy Holidays!

Roommates

Roommates.

Gotta love ’em, gotta hate ’em.

Finding the perfect roommates is like the hardest treasure hunt known to mankind.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy my roommates sometimes. Just not all the time.

Let me paint you a picture.

First off, I live with my boyfriend and our two friends from home. My boyfriend has been working at home so he is not here most of the week. Therefore, I basically live with two boys.

They are like the older brothers I never had….. or never wanted.

I would do anything for them and I’m 90% of the time sure they would do the same for me.

But I hate them sometimes.

Me being the only girl in the house, means I am the target for all the jokes. Don’t worry, I got tough skin.

I guess my point is, I would chose to live with them over any other roommate.

Good, trustful roommates are hard to find. And I trust my roommates with my life. So I guess in the end, I kind of won the lottery of treasure hunts. 812127_b140334e8a_m

Working at The Office

My dream job is to work at Dunder Mifflin.

Yes.

The Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in Scranton.

Having a boss like Michael Scott would mean I would never know what a boring day was… Or a productive one.

I just started working at Francesca’s and I am in love with the company and my coworkers. I never knew I could love working so much as I do right now.

Which led me to think what could be better than selling adorable clothing to people with the nicest coworkers I’ve ever met.

Working at Dunder Mifflin.

If you have never watched The Office, you are missing out on the best dry comedy ever created.

Basically, they don’t work at all and get paid to sit around and mess with each other or do crazy things Michael comes up with that day.

Working at Dunder Mifflin would be the best job ever.

All in all, I have learned that work should be exciting and should be what you love to do. Making money while going to work happy, is a great goal to strive for.

If you’re changing the world, you’re working on important things. You’re excited to get up in the morning.” Larry Page

Madly in love with Movies

I am a complete movie buff.

If I could become a movie critic, I would be the happiest person in the world.

My favorite genre is romantic comedies, but I secretly love almost all Disney and animated movies, too.

There is nothing like relaxing after a long day of school with a movie and some ice cream. Sometimes popcorn if my taste buds are feeling a little salty.

Watching a movie usually doesn’t take much brain power and it’s like you are entering a new world.

movie

I think that the movies you enjoy has a lot to say about you.

For instance, I love watching The Titanic, therefore, I could be classified as a hopeless romantic or every other female in the world.

My favorite Disney movie of all time is Oliver & Company. So, I am a animal lover who loves a good, happy ending and I love to see the underdog come out on top. (If you haven’t seen this movie, you are really missing out)

Sometimes everyone needs a outlet to relax. Mine just involves a lot of time on the couch with too much ice cream.

Find your happy place and never leave it.

When you’re curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.“- Walt Disney

A blog about blogging

You know what I love?

Blogging.

I love how I can say anything I want and write however I want.

I love the time it gives me to be, well, ME.

I like to think I am a outgoing person who isn’t afraid to say how I am feeling, but sometimes saying what comes to my mind on my blog, makes me feel better than saying it out loud.

That might not make sense to everyone, but my fellow bloggers know what I mean.

I may have been told to create a blog for a class, but it is the best assignment I have ever been given.

I decided to make a short list of why everyone should create their own blog.

1.Blogging gives you the freedom to express yourself.

-Everyone needs to have a creative outlet.

2. Blogging helps you become a better writer.

-For me, this reason is very important. I am studying Public Relations and minoring in journalism, therefore, writing has become a big part of my life.

3. Keeps you up to date on news.

-When you create a blog and begin writing, you learn of other people who blog and start gaining knowledge about things you never would have found on your own. It is a great tool for any Public Relations professional.

College has taught me to not be afraid of taking chances and trying new things. Sometimes not everything is a success, but you will never know until you try!

Jobless no more!

Thank the gods!

This girl just got hired.

I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to work at Francesca’s at the St. Clair’s Mall.

This would not have been possible without my good friend who is also a PR major.

It’s all about who you know, kids!

Today, I wanted to talk about how hard it is to find a job in 2015.

PSA: It is VERY hard.

Not only is it hard to find a job when you are a student and do not have a degree, it is hard to find a job with a degree! Nothing is guaranteed, therefore, I could be blowing tons of money that I don’t have in hopes of getting a job once I get my degree.

……sounds exciting, right?

NO.

But I am not going to dwell on the future.

I am going to be thankful with every opportunity I am given.

I am going to live in the now.

And right now, this girl’s got a job.

Long distance relationships

It’s not what you think.

My boyfriend lives in the same town as me and we see each other almost every day.

But I don’t get to see me best friend.

My super awesome, adventurous BFF moved to London without me.

Yes, I said London. As in London, England.

Big Ben

She left me in August and I haven’t seen her face since. We try to Skype as much as possible, but the six hour time difference makes it nearly impossible.

Moral of the story, I hate long distance relationships.

Living in a different country from the one person who knows you better than anyone, can really tear a girl up.

I have to admit, her leaving has brought us closer in a way. We don’t take advantage of the little things that happen in our lives, because now the little things are the big things.

I have learned to never take our friendship for granted. Especially because I see her five months or so out of the year.

Hug your best friend tighter tonight for me.

Because long distance relationships stink.
